ducks! 6000 of the shitting, greedy we buggers! same only 4 weeks old!the next day they flooded the place and had to go to the outdoor runs

hell of a big place and set up there pk, nice to see an organised, clean and tidy set up like that, a place with a bit of standard about it.

just to add we go thru last season with less than 10% losses on the pheasants and under 4% on ducks! we had a MASSIVE cockups with the partriges we had 4000 out of 5 000 escape at 10 weeks old when the boss was on holiday, they were all over the yard in the fields in the woods f***ing every where! we started wrighting new cvs out lol but thru a bit of brain power and a bit of hearding that would put a champion collie to shame! we then lost 260 in one foul swoop at 14 weeks the night before they were due to go out! the lights had been on all night then the boss decided to switch them off at night without telling us!! so they spooked and smothered each other.....

f**k man thats some amount of birds dnt think i ever saw so many ,keep up the good work

unlikely....i was paid off last season after 6 years full time.. :cray::cray:

you want crazy numbers haha guess what out end of shooting season return was!

also to add the 3 lads in the 3rd pic are the ONLY PEOPLE looking after this number of birds....i doubt their is many places in the country that will rear birds to this leavel with so few staff

yup clean clean is the order of the day, one of the biggest christmass tree producers in the country and a game farm and comercial shoot. very inportant people landing at all hours gota be clean. nothing worse to clients to see than crap and bags all over the place,

and the birds are clean and dry they have to be when you have that many birds together its a constant battle with disease! we spent upto £20.000 a year on medication :blink: but ive given up on replying to posts on forums about sick game birds as .........."i dont know what the f**k ime talking about":laugh:

thanks just to add you can see how every thing is laid out the same?

all the sheds in a row face the same way,all the sheds are in line! 100% spot on all the end sheds on rows match up all the pens are square and even

all the feeders in the outdoor runs in the same place AND in a straight line if you looked down the row in each pen inside the sheds is the same,

the same number and type of feeder in exsactly the same place in every shed all the water lines exsactly the same place and same system,

all the heaters in the same place in every shed and for the ducks, feeders and heaters are all inline empty bottels are taken away the same day they run out or taken to the change over valves on the big shed. even the bottles in the yard are stacked in rows of 10 deep empty on one side full on the other part bottles by the big shed! we used about 4-500 full gas bottles a season in about 3 month.......ime the fastest gas roller in the west haha

its a bit pedantic BUT it makes it much easyer to work with, you open a door and have a mental check list to go over heaters. are they ok are they blocked and not running right? are the filters clean? have the birds knocked them out? CAN YOU SMELL GAS?

are the drinkers ok? are they clean? are they over flowing or blocked? are they on their stands? do the discos need cleaning? or replaced?

feeders? full? half full? empty!! if your mixing feed are they picking crumbs from minis? or minis from no2s? is their any birds in the top of the feeders?

hows their shit looking? throthy? yellow like american mustard? dark like melted choclate? if so, do nothing else medicate them!

the outside runs are they feeders getting muddy? if so move them but not just one, remember neatness move them all! ......take pride in the birds and their presentation

and if any thing is not right fix it right away! dont "just do this first" stop..fix it..then move on.. then when its all done its all done not to mention if you leave something to fix later you can bet your balls to a barn-dance the boss will pick the moment your doing that other thing to look thru the sheds.....
